Trigger Campaign by Visit and Page Number

Why use this setting?

Running a campaign based on visit order or page order within a visit allows you to precisely control when the campaign is displayed to the user. This helps you avoid premature interruptions and ensures that the campaign appears timely and intentional.

Acquisition campaigns, such as email or lead collection, usually work better when they appear on the second or subsequent pages, when the user has already shown interest. Conversely, informational or orientation campaigns can be displayed on the first page without hesitation.

Where does it work best?

Use this setting when timing has a direct impact on campaign effectiveness:

Subscribe and lead-gen campaigns – display them on the second or subsequent pages, when the user is more engaged.

Pages in the later stages of browsing the website – trigger offers or reminders only after several steps within the visit.

Informational campaigns for new visitors – display them on the first page to help with orientation.

If you are unsure about the optimal launch settings, try activating the campaign using a CTA and let the visitor decide whether to display it.

Best practice tip:

Targeting by visit order and page prevents campaigns from being displayed too early, which can be disruptive – especially for subscribe forms. Users first have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the content of the website, which leads to a more natural and considerate experience. At the same time, it remains possible to display important informational campaigns immediately, if desired.

For acquisition and conversion campaigns, avoid displaying them on the first page and instead launch them on the second or third page.

For informational campaigns, displaying them on the first page is fine and often ideal. Use the number of visits to control the pace and limit the premature repetition of the same message.
