How Mailocator works with snippets and traffic billing

Mailocator displays campaigns only if the snippet is enabled on the website. The snippet is a technical component that tracks traffic, evaluates user behavior, and launches campaigns if necessary.

What happens when the snippet is disabled

If the snippet is disabled:

Mailocator does not track any traffic on the website

No traffic analysis is performed

Nothing is billed

A disabled snippet therefore means zero consumption and zero costs.

What happens when the snippet is enabled

If the snippet is enabled:

Mailocator analyzes traffic and user behavior.

This analyzed traffic is billed.

Campaigns are only launched if they are active and their conditions are met.

If Mailocator is enabled but no campaign is active, the analyzed traffic is also billed as standard.

Protection against unwanted billing

Mailocator has built-in protection:

If no campaign is active, Mailocator automatically turns off.

In this case, traffic is not analyzed and no charges are incurred.

This protection can only be bypassed if you turn on Mailocator yourself.

Why is traffic sometimes charged even when no campaign is running?

In some scenarios, it is desirable to:

first monitor and analyze visitors

and apply campaigns only later based on the collected data (behavior, returns, interest, etc.)

However, the process of tracking and analyzing traffic is data- and computation-intensive, which is why analyzed traffic is always billed.

On the other hand, the campaigns themselves, which are later launched based on this traffic, are not billed separately.
