Mailocator allows for secure file uploads directly via a pop-up or a form displayed on the website. Visitors can easily select and upload one or more files without the hassle of sending them via email or using external storage services.
Uploaded files are stored in Mailocator’s storage, where they remain available for a limited period of 7 days. During this time, you can download them from the link in the notification email you receive after submitting the form.
What file uploads enable
Using Mailocator forms, you can collect not only text data from visitors but also attachments and other files. Uploads take place directly in the pop-up or form, making the process fast and convenient for users.
Users can:
- Select one or more files
- Submit them along with other form fields
use both desktop and touch devices
After submission, a notification will be sent to your email address with the complete form content, including a list of uploaded files and links to download them.
How it works
To use file uploads, you first need to enable the Uploads plugin.
Then simply:
select one of the pre-designed forms that support uploads
customize the form to suit your needs
create a Form campaign
assign content and settings to the form
launch the campaign according to the selected rules
Of course, you can also combine a form with upload functionality with subscribe elements, so you can collect both contact information and an attachment from the user in a single step.
File Storage and Availability
Uploaded files are stored in the Mailocator repository for 7 days after upload. During this time, the files are available for download via a link in the notification email.
You can also optionally set the file to be automatically deleted immediately after its first download. This is particularly useful when you want to minimize the time the file is stored on the server.
Upload Settings
In Mailocator Settings, you can define basic rules and restrictions for file uploads according to your needs.
The following options are available:
- setting the maximum allowed size of a single file up to 500 MB
- restricting allowed file types and formats
- the option to set immediate deletion of the file after the first download
This allows you to tailor the upload process to a specific scenario and ensure that users only submit relevant files in the correct format.
When to Use File Uploads
You can use file uploads whenever you need to collect more than just text data from a visitor. Typical uses:
when you need to attach a document, image, or other file to a form
when you need to transfer larger files and don’t want to send them via email
for questionnaires and forms where an attachment is required
for inquiry forms with the upload of specifications, supporting materials, or technical documentation
for complaint forms with the attachment of a photo or document
for service requests with the upload of a screenshot, logo, or error log
for HR forms, such as submitting a resume, portfolio, or cover letter
for collecting supporting documents from clients, partners, or suppliers
for registrations requiring proof, a certificate, or other documentation
Automation and System Integration
Mailocator supports the transfer of collected information via JSON. This means that data from the form, including information about uploaded files, can be automatically transferred to other systems.
An external bot or integration service can retrieve this data, automatically download the files, and further process them in your internal systems. This makes it easy to integrate the upload into, for example:
- CRM,
- helpdesk
- internal request tracking
- inventory or service systems
- automated workflows and approval processes
